Jaeger LeCoultre Globe Terestre!

We are pleased to offer an interesting and uncommon Jaeger LeCoultre desk clock featuring a luminous globe on top. This desk clock, named 'Mappemonde,' dates back to circa 1936. Only a few known examples exist, with most having undergone significant restorations. This particular example has remained untouched for many years in an attic in France. The globe itself, made from hand-blown glass, still retains its original paper, which is a stark contrast to many other examples that have had 'new' paper applied.

On the 'Globe Terrestre,' made by Girard, Barrère & Thomas from Rue de Buci 17-19 in Paris, we find their latest discoveries. All the currents in the seas have been meticulously mapped, including a special diagram illustrating their correlation with the months of the year.

This clock is powered by the Jaeger LeCoultre movement 201, a Swiss 8-day hand-winding mechanical movement. It has been checked and cleaned by our watchmaker before sale. Time is read using the red arrow that points to the moving disk at the bottom of the clock, which also displays day and night.

In short, a really special museum quality piece !
